Engineered Timber Solutions (ETS) love a challenge, from a quirky design through to a complex delivery, the team are keen to support. So, when Darren Abley, Construction Director at Cameron Homes decided to take on the Three Peaks Challenge whilst cycling between the peaks on a tandem, ETS were keen to get involved.
Abley accompanied by two friends, Ian, and John Neville, took on this mammoth task of covering 490 miles between the peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) on a tandem and then climbing each one to raise money for two charities close to their hearts. They choose Combat Stress as John is ex-forces and SENSE in memory of Noel Sweeney the founder of the Tara Group who has sadly passed away.
The epic challenge has so far raised over £8,000, which will be divided between the two charities.
Chris Williams, managing director of ETS, said: “We are always keen to support local businesses with their charity efforts and this one really caught our attention. I’ve heard of the three peaks challenge, but I’ve never heard of anyone cycling a tandem between each peak! It is such a mental and physical effort to complete but they did it. We were more than happy to sponsor the three friends in their efforts. Noel Sweeney was a very charitable man so I was pleased we could support his team with this fundraiser.”
Darren Abley, Construction Director at Cameron Homes, said: “The support we have had has been unbelievable. We set out to raise £1,000 and we’ve raised over £8,000. It was tough at times, but it was all for good causes which we really wanted to support.”
