FAQs
Are you buying roof trusses or floor joists? Here are the answers to some of the commonly asked questions.
How do I get a price for my project?
It’s easy – you can give us a call on 01952 771170, and all we need is your name, contact details and site address. A designer can then give you a call back to discuss your requirements and provide a design and quotation.
Preferably we require architectural drawings which you can email over to sales@etstrusses.co.uk, or use the request a quote form on this website.
Do you site measure?
Yes. For projects in the Midlands area, we can site measure within a few days of receiving the enquiry. We prefer to provide a quotation before our site survey, so we know you’re happy with our proposed design and price. However, if you need your products urgently, we can often provide this service with no obligation to order.
How fast can you deliver?
ETS offers an unrivalled five working day lead-time. Helping you to ensure your project can stay on track. We’ve even on occasion supplied within three days of receipt of the enquiry!
What offloading facilities do you provide?
We have a wide range of delivery options available. For sites where access is tight, our bespoke truck and trailer arrangement allows us to reach sites many cannot access. A variety of flatbed and articulated lorry options are also available for sizeable projects. We also offer a HIAB service if you’re looking to avoid expensive crane hire fees, or if there isn’t space for a crane on site.
Is delivery included in the price?
Unless stated otherwise, all of our quotations include delivery to site. Or the nearest hard standing if the site is inaccessible. Should you require HIAB off-loading, an extra over price may be levied for this service.
Do you deliver nationwide?
Yes. While local jobs are often more cost-effective for delivery, we are willing to delivery anywhere in Great Britain. Historically we have also delivered as far afield as the Channel Islands and Scotland.
When can I use attic trusses?
There’s no hard and fast rule on when attics trusses are a suitable solution, but if you are unsure, our designers can advise further.
As a rule of thumb, the main requirement is for sufficient head-height to make a habitable room practical to use. The use of attic trusses as opposed to standard trusses could add significant value to your property, especially if you consider that an extra 1 or 2 bedrooms can be gained for a limited additional cost. If you’re interested in exploring this possibility give our design team a call today on 01952 771170.
Do you provide calculations?
Yes. All of our designs comply with Eurocode EC5. We cannot design any products that fail to comply with these regulations. If you require the design calculations for your records or your building control officer has requested them, then we can supply these free of charge.
Can I cut or notch my trusses or joists?
NO! Cutting, notching or drilling any of our products is strictly forbidden unless approved by your ETS designer. As an engineered item, the performance of the products must adhere to Eurocode EC5.
If you’re unsure, please give us a call, as remedial details to fix these problems after the event can be expensive and occasionally unfeasible. Our downloads (link this) page provide some guidance for drilling attic truss bottom chords, but please get in touch before cutting, notching or drilling.
My building has changed since my quotation; how do I proceed?
A change in the size, shape, or makeup of a building during the build stage is very common. It’s natural that as a building undergoes construction, it may evolve to a certain extent. Especially if it’s your property and you start to grasp the sense of space once the construction begins. Most of the time the changes do not impact the price, and we will always make every effort to maintain the original price where possible. If there are changes then give us a call and we can discuss the changes, or we are more than happy to visit the site to see for ourselves.
